Tractor Sales Were Lower in July
The tractor segment saw a noticeable decline during the month. VST sold 403 tractors in July 2026, which is 42 units fewer than the 445 tractors sold in July 2025. That works out to a 9.44% year-on-year decline. For a company operating in India’s highly competitive farm equipment market, monthly sales can move up and down for several reasons. Farmers don’t necessarily buy tractors at the same time every year. Rainfall, sowing schedules, crop conditions, financing options and local farming activity can all influence purchasing decisions.
Power Tillers Remain a Big Part of VST’s Business
The company sold 5,450 power tillers in July 2026, compared with 6,026 units in July 2025. That’s a decline of 9.56% year-on-year. Power tillers are particularly useful for small and fragmented farms, horticulture and other applications where farmers may not always need a full-size tractor. For VST, this segment continues to be a major part of its overall business and plays an important role in the company’s cumulative sales performance.
The Bigger Picture Looks Better
While tractor sales were down slightly during the April-July period, power tiller sales grew by 8.60%. That growth helped VST keep its overall sales ahead of last year’s level.
During these four months, VST sold a total of 20,914 tractors and power tillers.
During the same period last year, the company sold 19,426 units.
That’s an overall increase of approximately 7.66%.

The Final Word
July wasn’t a strong month for VST. Tractor sales dropped 9.44%, while total sales of tractors and power tillers fell 9.55% compared with July 2025. But the company’s performance since the beginning of the financial year paints a more encouraging picture. Between April and July 2026, VST sold 20,914 units, up from 19,426 units a year earlier. Much of that growth came from its power tiller business, which recorded an 8.60% increase during the period. July sales were softer, but VST’s overall FY 2026-27 performance remains positive.
