Farmtrac 6055 Classic ‘Dark Edition’: First All-Black Farmtrac Tractor
The Farmtrac 6055 Classic ‘Dark Edition’ becomes the first all-black tractor in Farmtrac’s history, positioned in the 55 HP category, the tractor is offered in both 2WD and 4WD configurations. It gives farmers flexibility based on their terrain, implements and workload. The tractor is powered by a four-cylinder, 3,682 cc engine producing maximum torque of 247 Nm. It also features a 2,500 kg heavy-duty hydraulic lift, premium LED lighting and a heat shield designed for larger landholdings and intensive agricultural operations. The 6055 Classic ‘Dark Edition’ can handle implements such as super seeders, laser levellers, reversible MB ploughs, rotavators and harrows. Its higher power and 4WD option also make it suitable for heavy-duty haulage and applications where greater traction is required.
PROMAXX 2.0 Adds 47 HP and 50 HP Tractors
Escorts Kubota has also expanded the Farmtrac PROMAXX portfolio with the 47 HT PROMAXX and 50 PROMAXX, positioned in the 47 HP and 50 HP categories, respectively. Both models are powered by a 3,514 cc High Torque (HT) engine delivering up to 230 Nm of torque. They are available in both 2WD and 4WD variants, strengthening Farmtrac’s presence in the higher-demand mid-power tractor segment. The addition of 4WD variants reflects the growing requirement for tractors that can deliver improved traction and performance across challenging field conditions and specialised applications.
Key features include:
- 12 forward + 3 reverse gearbox
- Creeper speed option
- Spacious flat platform
- 2WD and 4WD configurations
- High-torque engine designed for demanding applications
Farmtrac’s 30-Year Journey in India
Farmtrac was launched by Escorts in India in 1995 and developed a portfolio spanning 26 HP to 60 HP. Today, Escorts Kubota operates three tractor brands in India—Kubota, Farmtrac and Powertrac. Each serving different customer segments ranging from premium and entry-premium to value-oriented tractors.
According to Nikhil Nanda, Chairman and Managing Director, the latest launches support the company’s focus on strengthening its portfolio through application-led products while building Farmtrac’s position across key horsepower categories.
Akira Kato, Deputy Managing Director, highlighted the continued importance of the 41–50 HP segment, while noting the increasing demand for 4WD tractors and higher torque as farming applications become more intensive.
Neeraj Mehra, Chief Officer, Tractor Business Division, pointed to changing customer expectations, particularly the growing preference for tractors that combine heavy-duty performance, comfort, technology and modern styling.
Industry Outlook: Shift Towards Higher Utility and 4WD
The latest Farmtrac launches come as tractor demand is increasingly moving beyond basic horsepower requirements. Farmers are seeking machines capable of performing multiple operations, handling larger implements and delivering better traction in challenging field conditions. The expansion of PROMAXX 2.0 into the 47–50 HP range, & the 6055 Classic’s positioning in the 55 HP category. This gives Farmtrac stronger coverage across important mid- and higher-horsepower segments. The availability of 4WD across all three new models is particularly significant as mechanisation requirements evolve toward more intensive applications and greater implement compatibility.
Farmtrac Tractors Available Through Dealer Network
The Farmtrac 6055 Classic ‘Dark Edition’, 47 HT PROMAXX & 50 PROMAXX will be available through Farmtrac’s authorised dealer network across India. With these launches, Escorts Kubota is broadening Farmtrac’s offering with a stronger combination of power, torque, 4WD capability, operator comfort and application-focused features, while marking three decades of the brand’s presence in the Indian tractor market.
Krishi Vikas Take
Farmtrac’s latest launches indicate that the tractor market is moving beyond a simple horsepower-driven buying decision. The addition of 4WD options, high-torque engines, creeper speeds and higher hydraulic capacity shows a stronger focus on application-led tractor development.
From an industry perspective, Farmtrac’s move also strengthens Escorts Kubota’s coverage of the mid-to-high HP market where demand for versatile and higher-utility tractors is becoming increasingly important
