Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Crosses 4 Lakh EV Sales: India’s First Commercial Vehicle OEM to Hit the Landmark

Mahindra LMM Crosses 4 Lakh EV Sales – In a defining moment for India’s electric commercial vehicle journey, Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Limited (MLMML) has crossed the 4 lakh (400,000) cumulative electric vehicle sales mark. The achievement makes it the first commercial vehicle manufacturer in the country to reach this milestone. Announced in mid-August 2026, the landmark covers electric vehicles sold across both passenger and cargo last-mile segments. These vehicles — including the Treo range, UDO, Zor Grand, e-Alfa, and ZEO — are powering the daily work of drivers, delivery partners, shopkeepers, and small businesses across India. The Numbers That Matter

  • 4 lakh+ electric vehicles manufactured and sold
  • 9 billion+ kilometres covered by the fleet
  • Approximately 1.85 lakh metric tonnes of CO₂ emissions avoided
  • Equivalent to the carbon absorption of more than 8.3 million trees
  • India’s No. 1 electric commercial vehicle manufacturer for four consecutive financial years
  • Over 1 lakh EV sales in FY26 alone — the first commercial vehicle OEM in India to cross this single-year mark
  • Cumulative sales stood at over 3.4 lakh units at the end of FY26 before surging past 4 lakh by August 2026
  • Strong 39.7% market share in the L5 electric three-wheeler category (FY26)
  • Target: 1 million electric vehicles on Indian roads by 2031

Earlier milestones show the accelerating pace: the company crossed 3 lakh cumulative EVs by November 2025 (with the last 1 lakh units sold in just 12 months), after reaching 2 lakh the previous year. At the 3-lakh stage, the fleet had already covered more than 5 billion km and avoided over 185 kilo metric tonnes of CO₂ (equivalent to planting about 4.3 million trees). By the end of FY26, cumulative e-kilometres had risen beyond 6 billion, with emissions reductions around 240 kilo metric tonnes.

In Q1 FY27, MLMML registered 35,133 commercial EVs (including 13,134 in June 2026 alone). Electrification in the L5 category reached 44.8% that quarter, with the company holding around 32.4% market share in L5 EVs.

More Than Vehicles — Livelihoods on the Move

Behind every three-wheeler and small commercial electric vehicle is a livelihood. Mahindra has repeatedly emphasised that customers adopt electric mobility when the economics work — lower operating costs, better earnings potential, and reliable performance — rather than purely on climate messaging. The environmental gains have followed as a natural outcome.

Suman Mishra, Managing Director & CEO of Mahindra Last Mile Mobility, captured the spirit of the milestone:

“4 Lakh is not just a number for us — it is 4 Lakh livelihoods we helped power every single day. This milestone belongs to the drivers and entrepreneurs who chose electric, and to the partners and teams who made electric mobility a practical choice for India’s last mile economy. At Mahindra, our focus remains clear: build better products, strengthen the ecosystem and make electric mobility accessible for every last mile customer.”

At the celebration, Anand Mahindra, Chairman of the Mahindra Group, reflected on the journey with a forward-looking perspective: “every first milestone is simply the beginning of the next chapter.”

Looking Ahead: The Road to 1 Million

With 4 lakh vehicles already on the road and a clear target of 1 million by 2031, Mahindra Last Mile Mobility is positioning itself as a key enabler of India’s electric last-mile transition. The combination of scale, sustained market leadership, measurable environmental impact (9 billion+ km and 1.85 lakh tonnes of CO₂ avoided), and a livelihood-first philosophy sets a strong foundation for the next phase of growth.

This is not just a sales milestone. It is a signal that electric commercial mobility has moved from early adoption to mainstream practicality for hundreds of thousands of Indians who depend on these vehicles every day.

Krishi Vikas Perspective

Mahindra Last Mile Mobility’s 4 lakh+ cumulative EV sales highlight the growing role of electric mobility in India’s rural economy. Electric three-wheelers and small cargo vehicles can support farm-to-market transportation, helping farmers, traders and agri-entrepreneurs move produce at lower operating costs. With the fleet covering 9 billion+ km and avoiding around 1.85 lakh tonnes of CO₂ emissions, electric mobility can strengthen rural logistics while supporting a cleaner and more efficient ecosystem.
