CNH Industrial Plans ₹2,000 Crore Investment to Double Tractor Capacity in India by 2030

CNH Industrial is stepping up its ambitions in India’s crowded tractor market with a planned investment of around ₹2,000 crore by 2030. The funds will primarily expand tractor manufacturing, develop new products, and strengthen the company’s overall presence across the country. A key goal is to double its annual tractor production capacity. Also read the India’s Tractor Industry Hits Major Production Milestones blog at Krishi Vikas.com.

New Plant on the Yamuna Expressway

Roughly ₹1,000 crore will go toward a new tractor manufacturing facility near Greater Noida along the Yamuna Expressway. CNH has already secured about 100 acres of land for the project. The company needs the additional site because its existing Greater Noida plant has limited scope for further expansion.

The first phase is expected to begin operations by mid-2028 and will initially add around 20,000 units to annual capacity. By 2030, CNH aims to raise its total tractor manufacturing capacity in India from approximately 70,000 units to 1.4 lakh units per year.

Focus on R&D and New Products

The remaining ₹1,000 crore will support research and development as well as new product introductions for both the domestic market and exports. CNH currently sells tractors under the New Holland brand in India and operates its construction equipment business under the CASE brand. The R&D push is timely, as Indian farmers increasingly seek tractors with improved technology, better fuel efficiency, and more specialized capabilities.

Market Share Ambitions

CNH Industrial India President and Managing Director Narinder Mittal has stated that the company aims to double its market share and eventually rank among the top four tractor manufacturers in the country. Tractor sales volume reportedly rose 42% in the first half of 2026, lifting market share to about 5% from 4.3% in 2025. The company also plans to expand its dealer network from roughly 600 to nearly 900 outlets by 2028, with a particular emphasis on strengthening its footprint in Eastern India.

Implications for Farmers

Greater manufacturing capacity, a broader product range, and a larger dealer network should translate into more choices for farmers. Significant investment by a major manufacturer typically signals confidence in long-term growth. Over time, the benefits are expected to include better-performing tractors, stronger after-sales support, and more competitive offerings across price and horsepower segments.

Krishi Vikas Take

CNH Industrial’s ₹2,000 crore investment could bring more tractor choices, better technology and stronger dealer support for Indian farmers. Expanding the network from 600 to 900 dealers may also improve access to sales and after-sales services, especially in emerging markets.

From Krishi Vikas’s perspective, stronger competition is positive for farmers, but tractor purchases should be based on application, total ownership cost, financing, service availability and resale value—not just brand or horsepower.

Outlook

CNH Industrial’s ₹2,000 crore commitment goes beyond simple capacity expansion. Doubling production, investing in R&D, and adding hundreds of dealers clearly indicate a long-term strategy. The key question ahead will be whether these moves help New Holland capture the market share it is targeting and deliver more competitive options to Indian farmers in the years to come.
